Game Recap

Hawks use a big 4th inning to come back on the visiting Cougars of Bullitt Central and hold on to the 5-4 win! It was not pretty but the Hawks took care of business with 9 hits, along with 4 Cougar errors in route to their second victory in three tries.

The Cougars struck first in the top half of the 1st inning by plating 2 runs off starting pitcher Ty Morris. In the 4th the Hawks were able to load the bases when Morris broke the game open with a bases loaded 2 rbi single giving the Hawks a 3-2 lead. Senior John Selman was able to drive a ball deep into center driving in courtesy runner Noah Davis.

The Hawks scratched out another run in the 5th giving the Hawks the 5-2 advantage. Selman started the 7th inning for the Hawks but ran into a little trouble as the Cougars fought back to score 2 making it 5-4 with 1 out. Head Coach Eric Allen brought in Junior Robert Absher to close the deal. Absher was able to get two ground outs to seal the victory for the Hawks.

Selman picks up the win while Absher gets the save. Starting pitcher Ty Morris struck out 6 in 4 innings of work.

Dawson led the Hawks with 3 hits while Matheo Lynn had 2 hits. Ty Morris drove in 2 runs to lead the Hawks.

Next up: The Hawks (2-1) will host Warren East on Monday.

Game Recap

After suffering their first loss of the year on Monday at Central Hardin, the LaRue County Hawks Baseball team wanted to quickly put that in the past as Lexington Sayre rolled into town Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks knew what they were getting into as Sayre is one of the premier teams in the 11th Region, and currently ranked #22 in the state.

Junior lefty Derek Goode made his debut in a Hawk Baseball uniform and kept the Spartans in check thru 4 innings of work only giving up 1 earned run and striking out 2 batters.

The Hawks attacked first as Junior Matheo Lynn laced a double in the bottom of the first scoring Dalton Skaggs. The Spartans battled back and tied the score in the 4th inning. Junior Cameron Dawson took the mound in relief of Goode in the top of the 5th giving up one run. Sayre took the lead 2-1.

Down 2-1 in the bottom half of the 7th inning, Ty Morris was able to reach base on an infield single. Chandler Lynn then walked, and Dalton Skaggs reached on an infield error. With the bases loade, 2 outs and the count 2-2 Dawson laced a single into left field scoring pinch runner Noah Davis and Chandler Lynn to win the game!

Dawson picked up the win in relief. Matheo Lynn, Morris and Dawson had the only hits for the Hawks.
