The LaRue County Hawks traveled to Bryan Station High School in Lexington to participate in the prestigious Defender of the Mat wrestling tournament. The Hawks finished 1st out of 18 teams with 9 of 12 varsity wrestlers finishing in the top four. Seniors Noah Davis and Dalton Bell, Sophomore Tucker Shelton, and Freshman Thomas Hoppes finished the day undefeated and won their respective weight classes. Sophomore Jabin Hite had a runner-up finish falling in the finals in a close match. Seniors Isaac and Ethan Johnson, and Freshman Thomas Boone lost one on the day, finishing 3rd in their weight classes. 7th grader Gabe Fortier saw action at 106lbs finishing 4th and secured his first varsity high school medal. The Hawks return to action Wednesday Jan. 10th against top ranked rival Woodford County at home.
