The Lady Hawks Soccer team is ready for the district tournament.
Below is a Q and A with head Coach PJ Bauer just before the post season begins.
Q What has your first year as the girls head coach been like?
This year has been exciting for me. With me being the head coach it has placed a lot more responsibility on me. Dealing with parents, coming up with drills, figuring out formations has been a challenge but it has been a lot of fun. Coaching this group of kids has been something that I wanted to be a part of since Whitney and Allison started playing for the high school team.
Q What has surprised you about this year’s team?
I expected this year’s team to have a good year because of the talent that we had coming back and the three freshmen coming in. What has surprised me is that we have been behind in some games and we were able to come back and win. You want your team to have that attitude that it is not over until the end.
Q What are your expectation for the post season?
I feel like we have a great chance at winning our district. These girls can compete in this region if they don’t beat themselves before the game is even played. I believe in these girls, but they have to believe in themselves. For us to do something that has not been done before we will have to play for each other.
Q What do you expect out of Hart, Marion or Taylor in the district tourney?
Hart county is having a down year. They have a new coach and lost one of the best players in the region last year. Marion and Taylor are having similar seasons, and both will pack there defense in to try and keep us from scoring.
Q Who are the best teams in the region?
The best teams in our region are Bethlehem, Bardstown, Central, and Etown.
